Train pass company Interrail is currently running a huge 50 per cent off sale.

The tickets allow passengers to travel by rail in more than 30,000 destinations across 33 European countries – and are currently heavily discounted.

To make use of this deal, however, customers have to be quick, as the sale ends just after 11pm this evening on Wednesday, 30 September. The sale applies to the Interrail Global Pass, which, once purchased, gives passengers up to 11 months to begin their trip.

There are two types of global passes to choose from: Flexi Passes and Continuous Passes.

A Flexi Pass allows passengers to select the number of travel days within a certain amount of time. For example, a seven-day pass allows as much train travel as necessary on any seven days within a month.

With this pass, an itinerary may include three days in a city, one travel day, three more days of sightseeing, another travel day and so on until the month is up. Interrail is currently selling its Flexi Passes at 15 per cent off. For example, a seven-day pass that usually costs £249 can be bought for £211.

A Continuous Pass is slightly different. It allows travel on as many trains as needed within a set time period. These passes range from 15 days to three months.

These passes allow for two journeys in the holder’s home country, too – allowing for outbound and inbound rail travel. The Continuous Pass is on sale for up to 50 per cent off. A one month pass can be bought for £227, discounted by half.

Interrail says passes bought in the sale are 100 per cent refundable or exchangeable within seven days of purchase. After that time, refunds will not be issued.
