Flights between Abu Dhabi and London Heathrow will resume with Etihad Airways from today.
In certain countries, including Israel, Bahrain and the UAE, nearly all flights have been cancelled today. Since the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran, 7,766 flights have been cancelled. With a large number of Brits and other nationalities eager to escape the conflict-ridden region, everyone is waiting to see when airlines can resume operations.
An update on the Etihad Airways social media channels reads: “Etihad to resume limited flight schedule from 6 March Etihad will resume a limited commercial flight schedule from 6 March 2026, operating between Abu Dhabi and a number of key destinations. Guests with previous bookings will be accommodated as soon as possible on these flights.”
It urged members of the public to not travel to the airport unless they have been contacted directly by Etihad or hold a confirmed booking on one of these new flights.
It added: “The decision has been taken in coordination with relevant authorities following extensive safety and security assessments. Etihad continues to monitor the situation closely and will only operate flights once all safety criteria are met.”
The Foreign Office has been sharing new advice amid the war in the Middle East. Several holiday hotspots, such as Syria, Egypt and United Arab Emirates, are all being impacted.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO)’s list, which is constantly being updated, includes holiday hotspots, such as Thailand, Egypt and United Arab Emirates. Flights in and out of Dubai, which is in the United Arab Emirates, were suspended on the weekend and Brits there remain stranded.
Keir Starmer has insisted the UK Government will help keep Brits abroad safe. However, his FCDO team has listed 76 countries Brits should avoid for the time, some of them due to the conflict that has spilled out across the region. Of 226 countries or territories with foreign travel advice pages, 76 are currently flagged as having no-go zones.
The FCDO shared an update on X this evening sharing the update and urging British nationals to follow the latest travel advice. An update on the government website on March 5 now states: “A link for British nationals in Lebanon to register their presence with the UK government has been added.”
